8* Colorado (8:40 ET): The Rockies failed to exact revenge last night against Arizona, so we'll come back w/ them again tonight. To clarify, Arizona swept the Rockies in Chase Field right before the All-Star Break. But before that, Colorado had beaten them seven straight times and 8 of 10 overall this year. It's not like things weren't looking good for the Rockies early last night. They scored four runs in the first and that had me thinking I had an easy win on my hands. But it wasn't to be as the D'backs would homer three times en route to an 8-6 come from behind victory. Colorado gets its revenge tonight though.

The Rockies home vs. road splits are well-established. It's been this way throughout their quarter-century of existence. They score more at home. This year though, the split is even more pronounced. They are averaging 6.5 runs per game at Coors Field (#1 among home teams) as opposed to only 4.2 on the road (#28). Tonight will mark the first time for Arizona starter Zac Gallen pitching in the thin air of Coors, so don't be surprised if he struggles more than usual. Last night's win snapped a five-game losing skid for Arizona here in Denver.

While the Rockies' own runs per game average rises dramatically here at home, the flip side of that is just as obvious. They also give up a lot more runs at home. Yesterday was the latest example of that. But tonight, they have the one starter who actually doesn't mind toeing the rubber here and that's Jon Gray, who has a very respectable 3.90 ERA at home. (The Under is even 8-2-1 in his 11 starts). Note that while Gray was charged w/ seven runs his last time out, only three were earned. It was not that long ago that he went eight innings here and allowed only one run on three hits. That was against the Dodgers! 8* Colorado
